The excellent ray fishing continues into the colder months and some crackers have been caught with Blondes up to 27lb and Small Eyed Ray up to 15lb! 

We have been getting amongst some great Haddock fishing. On light gear these fish fight very well. So far this winter we have seen Haddock up to 7lb 7oz. 

At certain marks we can find good numbers of Spurdogs with the occasional run of Smoothounds and Tope too. Fishing can be hectic if they are around in good numbers. Some crackers have been caught so far this season with Spurdogs to 16lb+, Smoothounds to 20lb+ and Tope to over 20lb. 

As we head in to 2018, a big thanks goes to all the anglers who have fished aboard Bite Adventures over the last year. The fishing has been incredible! Lets hope for more great fishing in 2018. 

The Ray fishing is producing some fine fish with many Blonde and Small Eyed Rays. The Blondes are being caught over the 20lb mark and some excellent Small Eyeds are being caught amongst them. Kieren caught a new boat record of 14lb 12oz on a 1-7g LRF quiver tip rod and 2500 sized reel loaded with 15lb braid! 

Kieren went on to catch another beauty of 12lb 3oz on the same day. Another fine fish of 13lb 6oz was caught by Mark Hollins.

Liam Faisey also found himself a nice Small Eyed of 12lb 2oz in amongst some good Blonde Rays. 

These fish were returned after weighing and photographing. Well done guys!

The Blonde Ray fishing in West Cornwall can be superb. On a good day we can catch over 50 fish with many over the 20lb mark. Our best day so far this year saw over 70 ray come to the boat. These fish are excellent sport on light tackle! The best Blonde so far this autumn goes to Andrew Alsop who had a day off from skippering White Water charters. He had a cracking fish and a new PB of 24lb 9oz. Andrew took his fish on my Quantum Blue Spin 7-30g rod and Quantum Cabo 40 reel.... what a scrap!

A cracking Couch's Bream of 6lb 8oz was caught by Jim Grant of Guildford City Sea Angling Club. The fish set a new club record for Jim. 

When Bob Pollard comes on the boat he always manages to jam out a special fish. Big sharks, rare Cuckoo Rays and various other specimens. This time he found a specimen Couch's of 5lb 10oz. Awesome fish Bob!

I even managed to find one too - 5lb 2oz, Happy Days. 

There is a British Record out there somewhere and who knows when it might turn up. It won't be long until we see these fish into double figures. Bring on the fun! 

A big well done to John Dines for catching this magnificent fish. The fish was caught using a Fin-Nor Variado 20-30lb Rod and Fin-Nor Marquesa Reel. The fish was handled with utmost respect and after quickly measuring and a few photos the fish was released and swam off strongly. A very special fish! 

The third week in May saw us have the first try at the Blue Sharks for the season. The weather was superb, all we needed was the Sharks to show. We headed offshore and got the chum slick going. The Mackerel were a bit thin on the ground but we managed to catch enough for fresh bait. An hour or so passed by before one of the baits was taken and line pulled from the reel. Scott was on the rod and he was soon into the first shark of the season. A lovely fish of around 60lb. 

A relief to know they were here. Kieren was next on the rods and it was't too long before he was into a fish of around 50lb. 

Bob was next in and it was a better fish that had the Fin-Nor 20-30lb rod bending well...

A few good dives and the fish was brought on board. Length and Girth measurements put the fish at just under the 100lb mark at 97lb. 

Another hour or so passed and then a big one took the bait. The fish steamed off and wasn't slowing down even with plenty of drag applied. Liam was on the rod and was given a proper pasting by the fish. It took a good 10 minutes before we got a glimpse and she was a big girl. It hit the surface turned around and had 300ft of line off the reel in seconds. The rod was being put through it's paces, or was it Liam...

The Fin Nor gear we use is superb and provides excellent sport and fun, yet is more than capable of handling the big fish out there. Come see for yourself when you come out on one of our fishing trips. For the sharks we use a 20-30lb class rod which is the perfect balance between sporting fun and handling bigger fish and the Fin Nor Marquesa reels are silky smooth for those long powerful dives! 

30 minutes in and the fish was subdued and ready to come on board. A sigh of relief as she lay on the deck and plenty of cheering. A proper lump with a 93in length and 38in girth giving a calculated weight of 167lb! 

That was our 2017 shark season kicked off in style!! 

The trips have continued to produce sharks with every trip different ranging from a handful of sharks to 30+ in a day with a good few over the 100lb mark. Here are a few photos from other trips during May and June....

I even had some fun and took a 110lb Blue Shark on a 7-30g Quantum Blue Spin rod - that was fun! 

We are now at the start of July and are over 250 sharks caught on Bite Adventures so far this season. Lets hope the season continues as it started with plenty more fun and plenty more sharks!
