" Shark Fishing Trips, Cornwall"
Going Shark fishing out of Penzance
(Cornwall, UK) is a great day out with the chance of catching that
fish of a lifetime . The two main types of shark caught out of
penzance are the Blue shark and the Porbeagle, and the occasional
sighting of the Large tail fin of the Threasher Shark. We
personally have not had the chance to fight a Threasher shark, but
there was 1 caught by comercial Fishermen last year of over1000
pounds in weight taken just a couple of miles of Lands End.
The trip normally starts at 0900 or
before depending on the time the booking is asked to leave,
knowing that the fishing will commence within 1 hour of leaving
the Port ,Being luck that out of Penzance your Sharking starts
within 10 miles of the coastline .The BEST of the sharks come
between the last week of June and the beginning of October .
Shark Fishing Catch and Release.
I operate a strict catch and release
program on the shark fishing so that every shark we catch has its
picture taken and is released as soon as possible ,giving the fish
the best chance of all to go on and fight another day.
Last year we took the new Cornish Record
Blue Shark 139 pounds ,The fish will not stand as the record as
the Rules of the Cornish Federation of Sea Anglers state that the
fish must be bought to the scales to be classed as the record. We
measured the fish and released it again ,along with all the other
sharks we landed.
This type of trip is very popular with
all types of fisherman from the Stag parties to the seasoned
anglers.
The type of tackle we use is all
dissolvable on the of chance that a fish is lost in the fight.
Whilst you wait for that Shark of a
lifetime, if you bring your own light float fishing outfit with
you, there maybe a chance of getting into the Record Books fishing
for Garfish. You will find the Garfish and acrobatic and plentiful
with fish pushing the 3lb mark on a regular basis. The best
Garfish landed this year was a fish of 2.12.8 with bigger fish
lost at the net. The British Record is also held out of Penzance -
Could you be the next record holder?
